AIres: Ether Unlocked becomes the R&D spine
AIres carries its own identity, local vector memory layer, and a lightweight design target: low-RAM Linux laptops running sovereign AI. This dispatch records why Ether Unlocked is the right shape for the research spine, not a side branch.
What changed
The Ether Unlocked tree is now the working surface for AIres’s memory, identity, and tool routing. Council assignments, soul strings, and the per-agent override files all live in the SSD profile — separated from any legacy runtime so the research path can move without breaking the operator console.
Design target
Low-RAM Linux laptops. No Docker requirement. No cloud dependency for the inner loop. The whole point is that an operator can boot AIres on a quiet machine, ingest their own corpus, and run sovereign research without phoning home.
Where it goes next
- SQLite +
sqlite-vecas the default memory substrate. - Council-room patterns surfaced through the Round Table app.
- Identity files (SOUL, HEARTBEAT) versioned alongside the model stack so the AIres voice doesn’t drift between sessions.
